PRIVATE LESSONS/CLASS LESSONS

I'm glad you have made it to my website!  If you are here for the first time, you may have been referred here by me, a student, or a colleague for additional information about the studio.  My studio thrives on word of mouth referrals from former and current fans and students during more than a decade of music performance and education.

The first thing I do with a new student is to listen. If the student has some experience and can play anything (fav song, chord, riff, or melody) I listen to their sounds and observe their movements, and I make recommendations. If the student is a beginner, I ask them to identify their fav song, or artist and why. Then I ask "what would you wish for if you had only had one wish regarding playing music?" For some students it's learning a song that seems beyond their current ability. For other students it's playing in a band or playing at a talent show, or playing for a friend or family member. Whatever it is I respect where they are coming from and lead them forward. In any event all students leave the first lesson knowing how to play a new song.
